Saying goodbye to Greg Ostertag.

I wish Tag the best. I'm glad he played his last year with the Jazz. I'm sure he'll enjoy plenty of hunting and fishing in his retirement JazzKitty

Tag I'll never forget the time when I was at a Jazz game and you got ejected. As you were heading back to the locker room you decided it would be in your best interest to knock over the water cooler. I laughed about that more than almost any Jazz event that ever took place. The thing about that event was that even though you had let your temper get the best of you, we all knew you were a big softy on the inside, and we loved you for it. But now as the season comes to a close, you feel you've "run out of gas". All I can say is that I'm glad you did it as a Jazzman. You were a key part in the Jazz getting to the finals two times. You almost made me cry when I saw you hug Jerry after his wife passed. Your time here has been up and down, but I'll always love the big fella' and I'll always defend you if somebody else doesn't. Thanks for the time, it's been memorable to say the least. The Man 47

So long, 'Tag. I have fond memories, but the memory I'll cherish the most is the memory of your albatross of a contract preventing the Jazz from signing a free agent or two that could have propelled the Jazz to the Championship Chicaggie

Ostertag, what a character! On and off the court.
I wish him the best of luck. When he plays well, he's probably among the best centers of the league. And as a person, his kidney donation to his sister really defined who Ostertag is for me, a selfless, optimistic person who has a good heart Leetrakul

All the best Ostertag. You are one of few good guys in the league. Stymir

About the only good memory I have of him was in the game that featured "The Shot". Lucky for us Tag had one of his Games 'O The Month that day because we needed it. As it turned out it was actually the game of his life... all downhill from there. Eaton53

Ostergoof, I'll miss you. Wish I could be present for your last game tomorrow but that's not in the cards. I'll watch from home instead and hope that Jerry at least gets you in the game. Somehow I suspect he will. Don't think he's going to send you out with a DNP-CD. VALR

One of my favorite Jazz players. BEST WISHES TO YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS! bsjones

3 games I remember most about Tag
- vs Houston in the 1997 playoffs, when he played Olajuwon to a standstill in game 6
- a game in 1998 or 1999 against Philadelphia. It was the furst year of his new and large contract, and he was playing crap basketball. He comes out vs Philly and blocks 11 shots. Claims that space aliens had abducted him
- vs Sacramento in 2001 playoffs, puts up something like 25 points and 12 boards and 5 blocks and Sacramentos coach said its hard to win when Ostertag is playing like Bill Russell  Yell 42

'Tag - congrats on your retirement. You made it to the NBA, and you thrived and survived a lot longer than other men would ever dream to do. My sister and I have enjoyed cheering you on at the Jazz games, these past 11 years. Besides your play, we have enjoyed your enthusiasm, your humor, your humility and your sense of fair play. All of our best to you and your family. Maria is Jazzd

All the Best, Greg. RBS Madrid

You always kept things interesting. It was tons of fun watching you play, all the way from your KU days till you just happened to be drafted by my favorite NBA team. In fact, I just started to get into watching basketball (I was probably a 3rd grader )
