Kris Humphries – Humphries twisted his ankle in Saturday night's Jazz
win over the Pacer summer league squad. Not sure exactly how it happened,
Humphries said he must have gotten too
close to an opposing player as they were running down the court. The twisted
ankle is fairly minor and doesn’t look to keep him out of the lineup for
long.
“We’ll just have to treat it day by day and see how it responds,”
said Gary Briggs, the Jazz trainer.
“We’re not going to push him
too hard
here in the summer league… but I would be surprised if he didn’t play at
least one more game before the end of it”.
Mo Williams – Wrestling with a pulled muscle, Williams sat out Saturday’s
game on advice of the staff, mostly as a safety precaution. Williams is
expected to rest the injury “for a few days.” Whether Williams returns to
the Revue or not, if the Jazz, as predicted, sign Williams to a guaranteed
contract for the upcoming season, it would give the team 13 players under
contract. Allowed to have only 12 players on your active roster, it is very
likely, baring injuries to other players, that Williams could start the
season on the injured list with the same “injury.”
Curtis Borchardt - News only because after spending 145 of the last 169
regular season games on the Injured List – nothing but good news to report.
Borchardt has looked very strong in two very physical games. He hasn’t just
looked good – according to Borchardt he feels as good as he has looked.
“My foot has felt great for a couple of years now, the wrist is coming along
but when you hit a couple jumpers, its pain free.” He isn’t worried about
his injury-riddled past catching up to him either. “You can’t play that way,
if you are always worried you are going to get hurt – you are going to get
hurt.”
