The Jazz fell to 1-2 in the Rocky Mountain Revue on Monday night at
Salt Lake Community College. The team was led by the rookie guard,
Kirk Snyder, with sixteen points on 4-12 shooting from the field and
eleven rebounds. Snyder displayed his versatility and ball handling
skills playing both the point guard and shooting guard positions.
Kueth Duany was the second leading scorer with eleven points on 5 of
10 field goals and also contributed six rebounds. Snyder and Duany
were the only Jazz players to reach double figures in scoring.
Utah played a sloppy first half committing eighteen turnovers before
the break but handled the ball more carefully after halftime ending
with twenty-three turnovers in the game. The Jazz shot 39% from the
field compared to 47.4% for the Nuggets. Denver led by as many as
eleven points while Utah held the lead only once in the first half
by two points.
Curtis Borchardt had his least productive game of the tournament
with eight points on 4 of 7 shooting, seven rebounds, and three
blocks in thirty-six minutes of play. "Mighty Mo" Williams was also
quiet until late in the game when the Jazz made one last run at the
Nuggets. With three minutes left in the fourth quarter, the crowd
began to file out, but an acrobatic save by Kirk Snyder, followed by
a fast break led by Williams, brought the remaining fans to life
despite the ending score.
Denver remains undefeated in the Revue behind their seven foot
center, Francisco Elson, who led the Nuggets with seventeen points.
The next Jazz game will be Tuesday night at 8:00 MST against the
Chicago Bulls and will once again be televised on NBATV and KJZZ as
well as KFAN radio.
