Does anyone else think Mo Williams resembles Mighty Mouse? I am not,
by any means, suggesting that he has an abnormally sized head or
wears florescent undergarments on the court. I can honestly say I
have never seen him emerge from anywhere with a cape on. I am not
even saying he goes around boasting a catch phrase. But you can see
it in his eyes. You can read it in his expression when he is called
on for duty – “Here I come to save the day!”
He has the name. Mo – Mighty Mo. He has the game. How many other
6’1” guys guard small forwards? Mighty Mo! In game one of the 2004
Rocky Mountain Revue, Mo left his feet on a fast break and flew
through the air parallel to the floor so he could inch ahead of the
defender and lay the ball in.
Mighty Mo.
I sat back by the locker room after Thursday’s game waiting to talk
to Mo, but he and Kris Humphries had decided that all the kids who
stayed to the victorious end of Thursday night's Jazz win over the
Hawks were not leaving before they got some NBA autographs.
Mighty Mo.
What do you ask a guy like Mo? It has to be a tough time right now.
Playing injured with no contract signed just yet. “I told my agent
not to call me about it right now – we will see when (the Revue) is
over with”.
Mighty Mo.
What does a utility guy like Mo work on over the summer?
“Everything. I am working on every aspect of my game and trying to
get better.”
Mighty Mo.
What position does he prefer to play – 1 or the 2? “It doesn’t
matter. I like to play basketball.”
Mighty Mo.
Who is his favorite person to defend? “Ray Allen. It was always
competitive and it was always a good game.”
Wonder if that stems from the preseason game where Allen was 0-8
from 3-point land?
Mighty Mo!
What was the first year in the NBA like? “It was good. I had a lot
of fun, I learned a lot of things, got to play a lot of minutes.
Everything was positive. Hopefully it will carry over to next
season”.
You got it -- say it with me --
MIGHTY MO!
