Ok, I thought. It's just the first quarter, the Jazz will slow it down so we
have a chance to win.
Yikes!
I was thinking the whole game.....This is not good, this is not good, we're
going to lose this game, slow it down, work the offense...
What the hey! How in the world can a team with tired legs win a game like that?
You know, I don't really know. Surprised the heck out of me!
There were several things that surprised me during the game. One, Deron Williams
is just as fast as Baron Davis, but is much more of a slasher than Baron. Two,
Deron must have felt good that game, because his cuts were much sharper and his
game speed was unbelievable. This is a Deron Williams that simply leaves Chris
Paul in the dust, speed wise and talent wise. Anyone rather have CP rather than
Deron right now? Does Jerry know talent when he sees it? Yah......
Three, Dee Brown. Yes, I know there's an article about it, but Dee just signed his
new contract with the Jazz, he just doesn't know it yet. Against the fastest and
most athletic team in the league, Dee looked like he had afterburners on full
blast. Those two lay-ups were simply wonderful. I think it stunned the Warriors.
Four, Memo and Booz will be just fine this series, no need to go small ball at
all. I wondered about that, but my questions were answered. As the series goes
on, Booz will get the ball more in places he can score and pick up the scoring
slack. He will also average over 15 boards a game. Wouldn't surprise me if Memo
averages over ten a game as well.
Five, AK thrives on a small fast team like this. He could average over five
blocks a game, and they're going to be seeing him in their nightmares. AK is
back, as I guessed he would be those last two games against Houston. Against GS,
he's a tremendous weapon.
I expected Giri to have a good game, but he really disappointed me. He had the
chance to really show something, but he had a sub-par game. I hope for his
confidence that he has a better game next game. I don't want to lost him now
that he's playing better.
And as the title of this tread suggested, I thought we were going to lose
playing GS's game, especially with such little rest. As the series goes on, I
think we'll slow the game down just a little, run the offense much more, and
Booz will destroy them inside. Jerry will figure a way to get him the ball.
Another thing that surprised me was how close in speed and athleticism the Jazz
are to this team. I think they played about as well as they can, as smart as
they can, and they still lost. Good, good sign and very favorable for the Jazz.
We match up well with this team, and will do much better the second game. I look
for that one to not be as close, the Jazz should win easily.
This is an exceptional team, capable of playing different styles of opponents
and adapting very easily.
Maybe we should have lost that first game, but these next three wins are
expected. Jazz to the finals.
