Will woes follow Jazz to Sacramento?
4/19
For the Jazz to have any chance in their first-round playoff
series with the Sacramento Kings, they need to find a way to
turn off the turnovers.
This year was their worst at throwing the ball away since
the 1989-90 season, and their average of 16.5 turnovers per
game was second-worst in the NBA.

Leave Starks Off Playoff Roster
4/19
In 11 minutes Wednesday night, Quincy Lewis ended the John
Starks era in Utah.
Coming off the bench midway through the third quarter against
San Antonio, the seldom-used Lewis scored 10 points on 5-for-6
shooting. Though the Spurs held on for an 86-84 win that
relegated Utah to the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference
playoffs, Lewis' performance earned him a spot on the Jazz's
12-man postseason roster, submitted to the NBA on Thursday.
Matchup Against Kings Could Be Ugly for Jazz 4/18
Review the numbers, break down the individual matchups,
compare each team -- any way you look at it, the Jazz's
playoff experience this season is expected to get ugly.
Shy of divine intervention, they don't have a prayer of
beating the Sacramento Kings. The Jazz fell into a meeting
with the NBA's best regular-season team in Wednesday's 86-84
loss to the San Antonio Spurs at the Delta Center.
Quincy Lewis and Rusty LaRue get to play on while the season
ends for John Starks and John Crotty.
The decision of which backup point guard to keep for the
postseason was clear-cut: Crotty had been bothered by knee
injuries over the second half of the season and wasn"t healthy
enough to play, so LaRue got the nod.
Seedings still not set
4/17
Their bid to win the division title is going down to the last
day of the season, but the Dallas Mavericks might not have
their leading scorer and rebounder for the finale.
Although Dirk Nowitzki returned from a four-game injury
absence to score 24 points in a 96-87 victory over the Utah
Jazz on Tuesday night, the All-Star forward said that he"ll
probably sit out tonight"s game in Phoenix to rest up for the
playoffs.
Jazz
Lose To Spurs, Will Open vs. Kings
4/18
A rookie point guard from San Antonio via France punched Utah's
ticket to Sacramento.
Welcome to the globalized NBA.
Tony Parker, the 28th pick in last summer's NBA draft, went
coast to coast and scored with two seconds left Wednesday night
at the Delta Center, lifting the Spurs to an 86-84 win over the
Jazz.
Stockton RefusesTo Let Jazz Lose
4/14
If John Stockton had known it was going to be like this, he
would have turned 40 several years ago.
Jazz win, move into tie
4/14
Before the Utah Jazz even tipped off Saturday night, some of
them knew they could move into a tie with Seattle for the
seventh spot in the Western Conference standings.
Jazz top Warriors with strong finish
4/14
John Stockton had 26 points and nine assists as the Utah Jazz
moved into a tie for seventh place in the Western Conference,
beating the Golden State Warriors 109-101 Saturday night.
Jazz close with tough matchups
4/16 Only two days remain in the regular season, but the
Western Conference playoff picture is still a jumbled mess.
The Sacramento Kings have clinched the No. 1 seed in the
West, but the next three spots are up for grabs.
Dallas and San Antonio are tied for the Midwest Division
lead, with the winner claiming the No. 2 seed and the loser
falling to No. 3, or perhaps all the way to fourth, behind the
Los Angeles Lakers.
And at the bottom of the bracket, things are nearly as tight
with Utah and Seattle fighting for seventh and eighth seeds.
