From
our Spanish sources
Raul is coming !?!
6/22
In a interview with
Marca.com, "Raul Lopez has announced his desire to
go to the Utah Jazz and make a big jump to the NBA.
Raul Lopez is going to the NBA, and his decision is
final. The "star" of Madrid won't appear with the
white team (Real Madrid) and has the intention of
playing the next season with the Utah Jazz, the team
which picked him in the draft of 2001. "Inside
information by our source in Spain states that:
"After two consecutive seasons without winning a single
trophy in three different competitions, Real Madrid
are undergoing major changes. Five players (PG's Djordjevic, Attruia and Llorente, SG Vukcevic and C
Struelens) have been waived so far. But four more
players are very likely to follow them - these include
SF's Iturbe and A. Angulo, former Chicago Bulls C
Dragan Tarlac, and Raúl López himself.
Real Madrid have resigned PG Victoriano (who played
last season for another ACB team) and are after one or
two more PG's, namely Louis Bullock (top scorer in the
Italian league last season) and Corey Brewer.
Considering the team has already signed Román Montáñez,
a PG in a SG's body that can play at both spots, it is
more than evident that there's no place for Raúl López
in the roster anymore."

A 2nd look at Boozer
6/25
The Jazz brought Carlos Boozer back for
a second workout Monday, and this time the Duke bruiser
showed a bit better than he did on his first visit to
Utah.
But it remains to be seen if that's enough to convince the
Jazz to tab Boozer, assuming he's available, with their
No. 19 overall pick in Wednesday's NBA Draft.
Big guys
6/25
At 7-foot-5, Chinese center Yao
Ming is head-and-shoulders — figuratively, and almost
literally — above this draft's best big men. Ming should
go No. 1 overall to Houston, but there's a drop after
that. |
Time May Be Right for Jazz to Move Up in Draft
6/24
For only the third time in 14 years, the Jazz on Wednesday
will get to select a player among the first 20 taken in
the NBA Draft. But if that pick, No. 19, seems relatively
high for the only NBA team never to own a lottery
selection, history shows that it can also come just a few
choices too late.
In 1988, the Jazz were all set to choose, with the 17th
pick, one of the least-known players in that year's draft

JAZZ: Utah Gets Outsider Look From Irvine
6/25
Like most fired NBA coaches, George Irvine already is
angling for his next head-coaching gig, and he thinks he
has one nailed down. The former Pacers and Pistons boss
hopes next year to be leading the Mustangs.
That's the Monte Vista High School (Calif.) girls golf
team.
In the meantime, Irvine is watching videotape and
evaluating potential draftees for the Utah Jazz, adding an
additional voice to the Jazz's preparation for Wednesday's
NBA Draft. |
It's Lying Game season
6/23
Some call it fibbing.
Others prefer misinformation, or even disinformation, a
term usually reserved for describing the planting of false
information regarding political and military matters.
But whatever it's dubbed, make no mistake: At this time of
year, normally honest, upstanding men throughout the NBA
cave in to the pressures of playing . . .
The Lying Game.
"Oh, it's real," said David Fredman, the former Jazz
scouting director, now a Denver Nuggets assistant general
manager. |
2002 NBA draft foreign invasion
6/24
Cream of the crop
With 7-foot-5 Chinese center Yao Ming expected to go No. 1
overall to Houston, things are really looking up for
foreign prospects in this year's NBA Draft. As many as
seven non-North Americans are expected to be selected in
the opening round, including potential lottery picks Nene
Hilario, a 6-11 Brazilian big man, and Nikoloz
Tskitishvili, a 7-foot Georgian who played two seasons in
Slovenia and last season for Benetton Treviso of the
Italian League. |
Jazz in need of a good shooter, but will take 'best

The numbers spell out the problem in cold statistical
