Arroyo is excited to learn from Stockton
9/14
Without even seeing Carlos Arroyo play, it's already obvious he can
dish.
The point guard handed off compliments to the Utah Jazz, Salt Lake
City, Karl Malone and John Stockton in his introduction to the local
media Friday at the Delta Center.
Just minutes before, he'd signed a one-year deal with the Jazz, for
an estimated $475,000. |
Jazz give Lopez update, then go mum
9/12
Raul Lopez is out for at least six months, and there apparently is
some question whether he will ever play for the Utah Jazz.
The Jazz finally got around to releasing Lopez's medical report
Wednesday, after having him in town for a week to be evaluated by
doctors at the University of Utah's orthopedic center. |
Jazz Look
to Sign Lopez Before Surgery
9/12
After hearing relatively good news about Raul Lopez's injured knee, the
Utah Jazz say they are working to sign the team's first-round pick
from last year.
Lopez, 22, tore ligaments in his knee while playing for the Spanish
national team in August.
The evaluations on Lopez, Utah's prospective point guard of the
future, were completed Friday by doctors at the University of Utah.
They said the injury can be repaired and function restored.
According to the evaluations, Lopez suffered a lateral meniscal tear
and a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. |
Arroyo
Agrees to Join Utah
9/11
Carlos Arroyo's best performance in Utah came nearly two
years ago in Provo, when he scored 14 points in the Marriott Center
against Brigham Young.
He will get plenty of chances to better that now.
Arroyo will take his game to the Delta Center this season as a
member of the Jazz. The Florida International graduate agreed
Tuesday to a free-agent contract with the team, becoming for the
moment the only backup point guard to John Stockton. |
Arroyo signing likely; Lopez still a mystery
9/11
Raul Lopez might be out for the season, but Carlos Arroyo has agreed
to take his place.
The Utah Jazz remain mum on Lopez, saying — as they have for the
past week or so — that they're not ready to make any announcement
about his medical situation or basketball future.
Lopez, the first-round draft pick from Spain who was expected to be
veteran point guard John Stockton's principal backup this season,
suffered an ACL tear in an exhibition game last month. |
Wizards sign Russell: Jazz still waiting on Lopez
9/10
The Washington Wizards signed swingman Bryon Russell on Tuesday,
ending his nine-year stay with the Utah Jazz.
The Wizards were expected to officially announce the signing at an
afternoon news conference.
The 31-year-old Russell is expected to play small forward, allowing
Michael Jordan to move to shooting guard. |
JAZZ: Arroyo
Could Land One of Utah's Openings
9/10
The Jazz may have a Spanish-speaking point guard to back up John
Stockton after all.
Former Nuggets guard Carlos Arroyo will visit Salt Lake City today
or Wednesday to interview with the Jazz, vice president of
basketball operations Kevin O'Connor said, and it is possible the
Florida International graduate could be offered one of the team's
two open roster spots. |
Arroyo will visit Utah — Jazz say he isn't signed
9/9
Jazz basketball operations vice president Kevin O'Connor denied an
Indianapolis Star report on Sunday that suggested Utah already has
signed Puerto Rican national-team point guard Carlos Arroyo to a
one-year contract.
"I'm not saying we will sign him or that we won't," O'Connor said
Sunday. "But there's no signature." |
