In a article in USA today, he said it could be his last year. In my opinion this is a great development. But before you throw your mouse at the screen, hear me out.

Every year, Malone has had a controversy going, and every year he has played great. Remember his radio station show, when he said he wanted to be traded to a place where it rained? Remember the wrestling? The I'm not appreciated? How many times has he put us on edge, then played like the all-star Karl Malone?

Last year, there was no controversy, a kinder gentler Malone. We never saw the take charge Malone, until the playoffs. Blame it on what you want, injury, team chemistry, motivation, contracts, etc. But I blame it on no controversy. He thrives on it. And this year, we now have one...Does anyone really believe he can walk away from the scoring title?

Thanks Karl, for making the off season/preseason fun, for all these years... The USA today article [ link ]

Jazz push past Sixers
10/20
On a day like Saturday during the regular season — second half of a back-to-back set, both games on the road — the Jazz normally would sneak in a few extra winks, gather a little later in the morning and chow down on a catered breakfast before breaking down their evening opponent.
But not this weekend.
Not in the NBA preseason, with a four-game exhibition losing streak the main thing on their collective mind throughout the Friday night flight from Cleveland to Philadelphia.
Not when a bagel, bacon and eggs take a back seat to execution, shot selection and something as rudimentary as running the floor.
Padgett shines in fourth quarter for Jazz
10/20
Scott Padgett scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and the Utah Jazz withstood a late rally by the Philadelphia 76ers for a 107-99 victory in an NBA exhibition game Saturday night.

Padgett scored the last eight points of the game for the Jazz (2-4), who snapped a four-game losing streak.

John Stockton had 15 points, Andrei Kirilenko added 13 and Karl Malone had 12 for Utah. Jarron Collins of the Jazz had all 10 of his points on free throws.

Out of Touch, Jazz lose their grip onshooting, ball handling
10/19
These days, the Jazz offense is like a cranky used car and Jerry Sloan is the crusty driver's-ed teacher, screaming at the teenagers about watching the road.
But the car ran off the road again Friday night.
The Jazz shot 39 percent in Gund Arena, piled up 25 turnovers, missed 13 free throws and generally deserved to lose their license, falling to the no-longer-winless Cavaliers, 95-91.
Jazz to let Miller talk to Malone
10/19
Jerry Sloan says he is staying out of it. Kevin O'Connor too.
But that is not to say the Jazz will turn a deaf ear to Karl Malone's recent proclamation that he is pondering retirement after the coming NBA season, his 18th straight in Utah.
Rather, the only franchise Malone has known is quite interested in the Mailman's plans.

 Jazz at Philadelphia
10/19
This is the middle outing in a three-game exhibition trip for the Jazz, who also play Tuesday night in New York. . . . Utah center Greg Ostertag (strained abdominal muscle) did not play Friday night in Cleveland, and is likely out tonight. . . .

What is Karl going to do?
10/18
Sometime soon, Karl Malone may announce that this, his 18th season with the Jazz, will be his last. Then again, the announcement may be that he will be back for NBA season No. 19.

Malone: Seize the Game
10/18
Karl Malone doesn't speak Latin, but he clearly understands the philosophy carpe diem.
As he lives his 40th year and plays his 18th NBA season, the Jazz forward intends to seize a lot of days -- because he has noticed how few, relatively speaking, he has left as a professional athlete.

Mailman not sure about retirement
10/17
On Wednesday, USA Today reported Jazz star Karl Malone is mulling retirement after the coming season.

One Last Hurrah for Karl?
10/17
The Jazz aren't at the starting gate yet, but Karl Malone has already contemplated the finish line.
