Jazz retire Stockton's number |
|
 |
 |
John Stockton's
jersey was retired Monday night at halftime by
the Utah Jazz. A sell out crowd was on
hand along with former teammates and dignitaries
to honor Stockton with the retirement of his
number. Jazzhoops was there as a group of poster
and readers from all over the world
converged on the Delta Center to
honor John Stockton. |
 |
Also a group of 16
JazzHoops members welcomed this year's Jazz onto
the floor at the beginning of the game. A
blending of the old and the new.
A big thanks to the Utah Jazz for a memorable evening. Check back
for more pictures.

Which
Jazz will show up?
11/24
The Jazz blow away playoff contenders like the Lakers,
Nuggets and Pistons with 20-point ease. But they win in
the final seconds against one-win Charlotte, in the
final two minutes against two-win Atlanta, and lose - at
home - to the 0-8 Hornets.
Suddenly, the Bulls look a little scary, don't they? |

Sloan not happy with focus
11/24
Last time the Chicago Bulls got off to an 0-9 start, the
year was 1967.
It was the second season in franchise history, Johnny
"Red" Kerr was the coach and Bob Boozer was the Bulls'
leading scorer.

Harpring's availability
questionable
11/24
Today, Jazz forward Matt
Harpring will have the bruised bone just below his left
knee re-examined.
His availability for tonight's Delta Center game against
Chicago, Jazz trainer Gary Briggs said Tuesday, will be
a game-time decision.
But there still is a possibility, Jazz basketball
operations senior vice president Kevin O'Connor said
later Tuesday, that Harpring will be put on the injured
list. |

Jazz
Notes: Harpring's comeback depends on knee
11/24
Matt Harpring's next appearance for the Jazz could come
tonight. Or it might not come before Dec. 4.
The Jazz are considering placing the reserve forward on
the injured list to give his bruised left knee time to
completely heal, senior vice president of basketball
operations Kevin O'Connor said Tuesday. But the
uncertain nature of Harpring's injury makes it
impossible to predict, O'Connor added. |

No. 12, Forever 11/23
John Stockton spent 19 years toiling for the Utah
Jazz. His jersey retirement ceremony lasted 10 minutes. Typical. Stockton, who always shunned the spotlight during his record-breaking career,
was honored by the Jazz at halftime of the Utah-New Orleans game Monday night at
the Delta Center. |

No. 12 hands out more assists on big night
11/23
It was a pretty big replica No. 12
Jazz jersey they raised to the rafters in the Delta
Center Monday night — eight feet wide and 12 feet tall.
But it was nowhere big enough to fit all the people that
John Stockton — whose number will be worn nevermore by a
Jazzman — said belonged in it.

Humphries |
By Johnathan
Kendrick Jazzhoops.net head
writer
Going into this year’s draft the
Utah Jazz had big expectations – power forward or
center sized expectations. When their 14th pick
rolled around, they were happy to select
University of Minnesota PF, Kris
Humphries. Humphries officially measured in at
6’9” – a height that saw his stock rise the week
before the draft.

Close up with Kirk
Snyder |
By Johnathan
Kendrick Jazzhoops.net head writer
Going
into the NBA draft, who Kirk Snyder is, was no
mystery. The Western Athletic Conference Most
Valuable Player had just led his team the Nevada
Wolfpack, to one of the most sacred places in all
of sports – The NCAA Tournament round of Sweet 16.
Not only was it farther then that team had ever
been before, it was further then anyone had given
them a chance to go. read
