The Jazz walloped the Marvin
Williams and Salim Stoudamire deficient Hawks Thursday night,
behind the double figure scoring of CJ Miles, Ronnie Brewer......Wait.......
Ok, there must be a mistake here. The offical scorer’s report
says that Haffa Araujo was leading scorer with 13 points?
Cory Violette had 11? Nine in a brilliant second quarter? Paul Millsap had how
many rebounds? Twelve?

On a midsummers night so dark and dreary,
The scribe reclined, so worn and weary,
Why the hell am I here, said he,
Another horrible team again, quoth he,

Said the Maven, Nevermore.

For twenty minutes so bleak and dank,
And yes, indeed, the Jazz really stank,
It’s not my team with Jazz on the uni,
On a midsummer’s night so gross and looney,

Well, sort of. I’m afraid
losing at anything will never be palatable to this old fashioned
guy. Losing and winning are inherent measuring sticks in sports
of any kind, even the tee ball games where they don’t keep
score.

When I say a kid....You
have to realize that he’s about 5'8" or so......Saleem Stoudamire
towers over him, and he’s my height, and I feel like a midget
when I pass by these guys in the hallway. Five Eight seems
generous, somehow.

A Tale of Two Halves

The Jazz committed 27 turnovers
and were outscored 47 to 30 in the second half against Philadelphia.
Shavlik Randolph, who scored 25 points and pulled down 13
rebounds Friday, did not dress for Saturday's game. Neither
did Rodney Carney who scored 17 Friday night for the Sixers.
So what exactly is the bright side of this loss? Said coach,
Scott Layden, "There were good moments. You can't dwell on
the negative."

It was the best
of halves, it was the worst of halves, it was the age of the
fast break, it was the age of the turnover, it was the era
of the jump shot, it was the era of the air ball, it was the
reason for optimism, it was the season of darkness, it was
the day of hope, it was the night of despair, we had victories
before us, we had losses behind us, we were all going direct
to the finals, we were all going direct to the lottery...

Thought I’d talk a little
about the players not on the Jazz, that TV doesn’t show unless
you watch all the games.

First.....Sene, of course. Did you expect me not to start
with him? The first few minutes of the Sonic’s game looked
like a highlight film for Sene.

Day One RMR ,
Jazz VS Hawks

Ok.....Here’s the good news. The NBA has changed its style
and substance.

Here’s the bad news. I’m not sure that’s something desirable,
needed, or even dreamed of twenty years ago.

Hawks game summary

Deron Williams set the tone for the Jazz.
There was an obvious difference in the confidence level of
the team when he was on the floor. The Jazz ran the court,
and Deron hit the open man time after time. Not only did he
dish out 7 assists, but he shot 2 for 3 from behind the arc
and 7 for 9 overall. Coach Tyrone Corbin was pleased with
Williams' output stating that he looked comfortable with the
game and the offense.
